While I love a beautiful statement necklace, dainty simple pieces are the norm for me. The problem with such delicate pieces is that they tangle easily and are difficult to store. I have a large stand-up jewelry box with some hooks for necklaces, but the little chains of most of my necklaces still get tangled up from hanging on just one hook. Also, I simply have way more necklaces than I do places to hang all of them. Emily Schuman of Cupcakes And Cashmere was my inspiration for how to solve this little problem. Here’s how simple this is:
1. Gather a bunch of thin, small nails and paint them to match the color of the wall you’ll be hanging your necklaces on. Mine are in my closet. above a tall, thin bookshelf I keep various things on.
2. Take a ruler and make marks on the wall for where the nails will go. Each necklace will use two nails to hang off of, place these nails an inch apart. Then place the next set of nails half an inch away from the first set. So your marks will be an inch, half an inch, inch, half an inch, and so on.
3. Hammer the nails in gently, and hang all your delicate little necklaces.
Simple as that! I love this because not only does it look nice, but I finally can see them all in one place making it easier to decide which one to wear when they’re all displayed right in front of me. The lighting in my closet is extremely poor, but here’s one more picture to give you an idea:
Yes, that is my handsome husband on display as well. =)
