It’s crazy to think that this time last year we were moving into our new home. It’s easy to forget how hectic and stressful that time can be…and even easier to forget what the house looked like before we added all of our own personal touches. I thought it be fun to do a recap of the progress and major projects we’ve done in our home this past year. I guess you could say we’ve been pretty busy, as lots has been accomplished. Seeing all these before and after pictures in one place makes me feel pretty good about all of our hard work, and it definitely inspires me to do even more!
This kitchen remodel has been quite a drawn out process, which I suppose is pretty typical when you lack the funds to hire somebody to do it for you. The beginning of this summer we started with painting our kitchen cabinets white, that was definitely the largest undertaking of this project and probably had the biggest impact as well. See those before and afters and a little tutorial here. As I expected, once our cabinets were done we decided the ugly brown formica countertops had to go asap.
So I seem to overdo it every year with the amount of peppers I grow. I’m not throwing any out, but I am always overwhelmed by the amount I have to do stuff with. It’s really not a bad thing though, because it has allowed me to try new things…like making pickled jalapeños. These are perfect for people like me who haven’t attempted canning yet, as long you have room in your refrigerator. The jalapeños should stay good in the refrigerator for about the same amount of time a jar of store-bought jalapeños will after the seal is broken.
