ZaZa’s was the choice that night and I must say, nothing is more comforting than a satisfying meal at a familiar Italian restaurant. It truly feels like home when you’ve sat at that bar a million times and ordered the same reliable dishes over and over. We shared an amazing cabernet, then split two of my favorites: the white fish and bruschetta spinaci. The night was cool and it brought back comforting memories of the times I’d spent there in the past with family and friends. Fall always gives me feelings of nostalgia for some reason, it’s such a cozy, beautiful season.
A couple of weeks ago Zack and I were in town for my cousin’s wedding and we stayed an extra night at my mom’s house. She had just left for Hawaii so the evening was ours to enjoy alone together… a mini vacation away from home, in what used to be my home. We decided to get dressed up and go out to a nice dinner.
One of my most favorite foods has always been bruschetta. There are so many different variations I’ve tried over the years, but none ever really compare to the bruschetta spinaci at ZaZas. It’s one of those dishes I’ve had countless times, and it never ceases to please me, nor have I ever tired of it. Many years ago I started making my own adaptation of theirs to satisfy me. While nothing will ever compare to sitting at the bar, sharing a bottle of wine, and ordering this to split with a companion, it does fulfill my bruschetta cravings quite nicely. I hope it satisfies you as well!
