It’s amazing how quickly you can acquire a skill when it actually matters to you. I’ve never considered myself a painter, actually when Zack and I painted our rental house I was dismissed from the task at hand by him because I was doing such a lousy job. Shameful.
When we moved into our new house the walls were all yellows and greens. Now there’s nothing wrong with shades if yellow and green, it’s just not our taste. We’re not sunshiney people, and living with the brightness of the yellow walls was slowly driving our overly-sensitive little minds insane with every passing day. Due to both of us being extremely impatient people, we needed to subdue the walls in our house asap. Zack told me the biggest thing I could do to help him out over the next month was to get as much painting done as possible. So I became determined to cover the walls in our house, and within a few hours I went from being a lousy painter, to being a pretty darn good painter. It’s funny how when something matters to us we suddenly become fully capable, I guess it’s just a matter of setting your mind to it and you can accomplish anything. This small guest bathroom was one of my first undertakings. We wanted neutrals for the rest of the house, so I thought this would be a good spot to try something a little different and decided to make it a moody navy color. I found a swatch of shades of navy from Benjamin Moore and picked out the Hale Navy instantly. We absolutely love how it turned out.
It’s truly amazing what paint can do. I looked at Zack last night in the midst of another painting adventure, and said dreamily to him “paint is so magical”. He thinks i’m crazy.
