Everyone knows I love a good home before & after. This is one I’ve been wanting to do forever, so I’m so excited it’s finally finished! When we bought our house we agreed that one of the first things to go would have to be the ugly light green master bedroom carpeting. Of course, almost a full three years later, and we finally got around to it. Menards pulled us in with their 11% rebate and we bought this hickory engineered hardwood to install, along with some crown moulding to finish off the room.
I really don’t mind most DIY projects, but I must say, crown moulding is not fun. If we could afford it in the future, it’s one job I would totally find worth hiring someone else to do. Zack is pretty good at cutting the angles, but even so it was a tedious stressful task. Lots of curse words were involved, followed by him declaring himself a genius when he finally got it right. Amusing, but like I said, stressful too! I followed behind him on my ladder, caulking, sanding, and painting nail holes and corners. We really couldn’t decide who’s job was worse, and we both had sore necks the next day, but the finished project was definitely worth it. The lighting in our bedroom is a bit awkward for photos, but you can still get an idea of what a difference it made in there.
It’s been quite awhile since we’ve done any home improvement projects after going crazy with them the first 18 months we lived here. After this project, I think we’ve got that itch back, as we have have lots of other ideas in mind. It doesn’t take much to get us started. Thank goodness my husband is handy and I don’t mind getting my hands a little dirty!
