I’ve added some new products to my beauty routine, and now that I’ve been using most of them long enough to decide they’re keepers, I thought I’d share!
Mimosa Blossom Dream Cream
I know some people will spend a lot of money on their bedtime face lotion. I on the other hand, was looking for something cheap, hydrating, and pleasant smelling. I would rather spend my money on products like a strong retinol, brightening cream, and expensive serum…and save on the lotion. Don’t ask me why – this just makes sense to my brain, and I think it must be working (for my skin at least), because I see a lot of people my age with some much more defined lines than I have. I read in some magazine in an interview with Kylie Jenner that she uses this stuff (go ahead, judge me), and I figured hey it’s cheap and if it’s good enough for her, it’s good enough for me to try. So about maybe 6 months ago I ordered some. The label says face and body so I figured if I didn’t like it for my face I’d use whatever was left over for my body instead. Turns out, I loved the stuff. It’s thick, creamy, and full of oils that are good for your skin. Bonus that the two times I’ve ordered from their website they’ve also included a little sample of their coconut cream, which smells amaaazing. I may need to buy a full size of that eventually too.
The ingredient list for the dream cream is: Purified mountain rainwater, olive oil, sweet almond oil, apricot oil, grape seed oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, mimosa flower wax, beeswax, jojoba oil, rosehip seed oil, shea butter, ylang ylang, sweet orange, and lecithin. Includes glucose and enzyme (a natural preservative). …sooo basically everything I love.

Osmotics – Lipofill
While I may be feeling confident about how minimal the lines on my face are right now, I’ve recently become obsessed with volume loss. People who have baby faces growing up are always told one day they’ll be grateful for that, and that’s because they won’t have to deal with this issue as soon as someone like me – with a long thin face – will have to! I’ve also been told that because I’m thin in general that volume loss will be much more noticeable in me at a younger age. Double whammy. Sooo maybe I should agree to Friday night pizza more often? Or just start attacking my face with preventative measures. After doing some research it seemed this one has pretty positive reviews for plumping and filling without any needles involved. I’ve only been using it for a couple months, but I swear I notice a bit of a difference in what I consider to be my “problem” areas (under eyes, nasolabial folds). Since you’re spot-treating with this the bottle should last quite awhile, therefore I think it’s a preventative treatment that’s worth the cost, at least until I find a better one! I would love to hear how this works on someone older than me with significant volume loss, if that’s you and you try it, report back!

Your Best Face – Define
So this kind of goes along with volume loss. Call me paranoid or overly-critical, but I swear my lips are seeing a bit of volume loss. “Define” is supposed to do what what it’s name says- contour the lines of your mouth by diminishing fine lines and enhancing lip color. While I’m probably nowhere near close to having those dreaded little lip lines, I wouldn’t mind seeing a more defined lip. I think this is more preventive when you’re in your 20s-30s, with the hope that maybe it will improve your existing features too. Since using this consistently day and night I actually do think the lines of my mouth appear more defined, and therefore give the illusion of having more volume. My lips are actually the one facial feature I’ve always received the most compliments on, so I wasn’t looking for them to plump up and change drastically, just to look like a better version of themselves. I have a very defined cupids bow, but the corners of my upper lip I was wanting to look more defined, and I think this has been effective in doing that!

St. Tropez – Self Tan Bronzing Mousse
Long gone are the days I bake myself in a tanning bed, in fact I cringe to think how much time I spent in those. Yet somehow my obsession with tan skin never led me to self-tanners after I disowned the UV lights. Recently though I received a large sample of this bronzing mousse and after using it instantly fell in love with the color it gave me. How have I never tried it before?! It goes on so easily, and instantly gave me a tan so close to what my natural tan skin looks like, I was seriously amazed. My husband thought I’d been outside working in the yard (which I really should have been doing..), and was surprised when he found out that one application of this mousse gave me the color it did. Rarely do I use samples and go on to buy the full size, but with this one I hopped online and ordered a bottle right away. Yay for tan skin whenever I feel like it again! I used my bare hands and the color rinsed off easily with a little bit of oil rubbed into my hands, but they do recommend using an applicator mitt which I’m getting for future applications.

Last summer out of nowhere I developed keratosis pilaris on the backs of my arms. I’ve never had this skin condition before, although I’ve seen it on other people. Apparently it’s not at all uncommon, but no matter who you are it’s not enjoyable to have bumpy red looking arms – especially in the summer! I tried so many things to help the condition improve, and absolutely nothing worked until I started using this lotion. I use it twice a day on the backs of my arms, and all over the rest of my body at night too. As long as I use it religiously, the bumps on my arms are much less noticeable…and I’m crossing my fingers that at some point they will become non-existent. We all know how important exfoliating is, and this does that with it’s clinically proven 12% lactic acid that’s PH balanced for your skin. Even if my keratosis pilaris eventually resolves, I’ll continue to use this daily because it really does make my skin softer. I should also note that I recently burned my arm on accident, and what normally would have turned into a scar has healed up quickly and beautifully. I’m not for sure if it’s from using this lotion, but I have a suspicion it may be. My skin scars SO easily, so maybe the quicker turnover of cells helps with that too? Either way, this stuff is great. Regular exfoliation = Younger looking skin.
